A 32-year-old Texas man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping after he allegedly held his girlfriend against her will for several days, assaulted her repeatedly, and threatened to kill her and her family if she attempted to escape.

Adrian Anthony Longoria was taken into custody on Sunday after witnesses at a San Antonio truck stop reported a disturbance involving a man chasing a woman with a gun. Officers from the San Antonio Police Department responded to the Flying J Travel Center, where witnesses told them Longoria was pursuing his girlfriend and threatening to shoot her if she refused to get into his car.

When police located the woman, they found her with a black eye and multiple visible bruises across her body. Longoria denied any assault had taken place, claiming to officers that the injuries were the result of a “previous fight.”

The woman gave investigators a detailed account of what she said had been days of captivity and abuse. She told police she had known Longoria for a few months and that the two shared an intimate relationship. After completing a stint in rehabilitation at the end of May, she moved into his home in Cibolo, Texas.

Just two days after her arrival, she said, she attempted to leave, and that was when her ordeal began. As she approached the front door of Longoria’s home, he allegedly stepped in front of it, raised a gun, and told her directly: “If you try to leave or escape, I’ll kill you and your family.”

What followed, according to police, was a prolonged period of confinement during which Longoria physically assaulted the woman on multiple occasions and refused to allow her to leave the property. He also confiscated her phone, cutting off her means of communication with the outside world.

The woman told investigators she eventually managed to contact her family using Longoria’s own phone. The situation came to a head at the Flying J Travel Center, where witnesses observed Longoria chasing the woman through the truck stop and threatening her at gunpoint, prompting the call to police that led to his arrest.

Longoria is currently being held at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a $50,000 bond, facing a kidnapping charge. His next court date had not been made publicly available at the time of reporting.

The case has drawn attention to the dangers faced by victims of domestic violence who attempt to leave abusive situations, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances. The woman in this case had only recently left a rehabilitation facility before moving into Longoria’s home, and her phone being taken from her left her with extremely limited options for seeking help.

Authorities have not indicated whether additional charges, such as unlawful restraint or aggravated assault, may be filed as the investigation continues. The San Antonio Police Department’s report was obtained by local KSAT, which first reported the details of the arrest.
