The Indiana Fever continue to impress following the WNBA’s Paris Olympics break, securing their second consecutive victory with a 92–75 triumph over the Seattle Storm on Sunday, according to Fox Sports. The win, highlighted by strong performances from the Fever’s guards, marked a turning point in their season as they improved to 13-15 overall and 8-5 at home.

Kelsey Mitchell led the charge for Indiana, scoring 27 points and sinking 5 of her 8 attempts from beyond the arc. Caitlin Clark followed closely with 23 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while Lexie Hull added 22 points, shooting an impressive 6-for-7 from three-point range. Aliyah Boston was dominant on the boards, pulling down 15 rebounds to help the Fever secure the victory.

The game also saw Caitlin Clark achieve a historic milestone, surpassing Ticha Penicheiro’s long-standing record for the most assists by a rookie in WNBA history. Clark earned her 225th career assist during the second quarter, breaking the previous record set by Penicheiro in 1998. Despite some discrepancies in the exact number of assists Penicheiro had—either 224 according to the WNBA or 225 according to Deadline—Clark’s record-breaking performance was undeniable.

“Ticha’s been a big fan of mine ever since I was in college and somebody that has always been right there to congratulate me or just be somebody that’s offered advice,” Clark shared in a postgame interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe. “To pass somebody like her, I’m just forever thankful that she’s been such a legend in our game.”

Following Clark’s achievement, the Fever posted a video on social media featuring Penicheiro congratulating her. “I was always mesmerized about your passing, your court vision and how you make your teammates better,” Penicheiro said. “So this record is in great hands. Continue to do what you do, continue to elevate your game and the women’s game and the WNBA.”

The game started slowly for both teams, with the Storm holding a 17-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. Indiana, however, fought back in the second quarter, taking the lead just before halftime with a narrow 35-34 advantage.

The Fever found their rhythm in the second half, opening the third quarter with an 8-2 run that included crucial three-pointers from Mitchell and Clark. While the Storm managed to tie the game midway through the quarter, Indiana’s strong finish in the fourth quarter sealed the victory, outscoring Seattle 33-17.

Jewell Loyd led the Storm with 26 points, while Nneka Ogwumike contributed 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Despite their efforts, the Storm fell to 17-10 for the season and now stand third in the Western Conference and fifth in the league.

The Fever will enjoy nearly a week of rest before facing the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday, while the Storm conclude their road trip against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday.
