The Washington Commanders have officially announced the signing of outside linebacker Justin Hollins, adding depth to their defensive lineup. In a corresponding roster move, the team waived linebacker Bo Bauer.

Hollins brings a wealth of experience to the Commanders, having played for several teams over the course of his NFL career. Last season, he saw action with the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and Los Angeles Chargers. During his time with Green Bay, Hollins recorded nine tackles across four games, while with the Chargers, he contributed eight tackles and a sack in seven games.

Before his stint with the Packers in 2022, Hollins made a significant impact with the Los Angeles Rams. Over 34 games, he amassed 50 tackles, six sacks, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. His time in the NFL also includes experience with the Denver Broncos, showcasing his versatility and ability to adapt to different defensive schemes, told NBC Sports.

The Commanders’ decision to sign Hollins comes as they continue to fine-tune their roster ahead of the regular season. Hollins’ ability to rush the passer and contribute in various defensive roles makes him a valuable addition to the team.

In contrast, linebacker Bo Bauer, who was waived to make room for Hollins, had a brief stint with the Commanders. Bauer recorded just one tackle in the team’s first preseason game and did not see the field in their most recent matchup on Saturday.

The move reflects the Commanders’ ongoing efforts to optimize their defensive unit as they prepare for the upcoming season. With Hollins now in the fold, the team hopes to bolster their pass rush and overall defensive depth.

As the Commanders move forward, Hollins will look to make his mark in Washington, potentially carving out a key role in their defense. Meanwhile, Bauer will seek opportunities elsewhere as teams around the league continue to evaluate their rosters before the regular season kicks off.
