Kyrie Irving is facing a lawsuit from a health and wellness company, Elite Mind Solutions, after allegedly refusing to pay a $390,710 bill for services rendered during a family retreat this past summer. The lawsuit, filed in New York state court, claims that Irving hired the company to provide therapy workshops and wellness services for a family retreat held between June 28 and July 4.

The retreat, initially intended for 50-60 attendees, reportedly ballooned to 115 participants by June 19, and then to approximately 150 by the event’s start. Elite Mind Solutions, run by Natasha McCartney, specializes in sports psychology, offering structured, evidence-based support for athletes. The company claims that McCartney charged over $100,000 for preparation, designing meditation sessions, creating custom workbooks, and crafting a “masterclass” program over the course of 22 days leading up to the retreat, according to the Independent.

During the retreat, McCartney organized several activities, including 30-minute mindfulness sessions each morning, for which she charged $5,500 per session. She also held a two-hour non-violent communication session for $25,000, three days of “intuitive life readings” for $9,000, and hired an “ionic foot detox” provider for $7,200. In total, McCartney billed Irving $386,660, but offered a “Kyrie Irving discount” of $236,660, bringing the amount owed to $150,000.

In addition to the wellness services, McCartney coordinated with a branding agency for $100,710 worth of services, including visual identity development, photography, gift bags, and event amplification. Following the retreat, McCartney claimed the event ended prematurely due to a participant’s tragic death, and she had to employ her husband, a retired NYPD detective, for crisis intervention.

After the retreat, Elite Mind Solutions alleges that Irving’s team refused to pay the balance, and the company has lost confidence that he will honor the agreement. They are now suing Irving for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud, seeking the full amount of $390,710 plus interest, costs, and attorney fees.

McCartney’s lawyer, Michael Faragalla, stated that despite attempts to contact Irving, the basketball star never made a direct effort to resolve the situation, leaving it to his management to handle the matter. Irving, who is in the second year of a three-year, $126 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks, has yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit.
