Donald Trump called on President Joe Biden to retract an attack ad that he claims misrepresents his views on military service. The controversy centers on a Biden campaign ad that features derogatory comments Trump allegedly made about American soldiers. These comments include calling deceased World War I soldiers “suckers” and “losers,” a claim Trump vehemently denies and labels as a fabrication by his political opponents, told The Hill.

The demand from the former president came as Biden paid tribute to fallen troops at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France—a site Trump reportedly disparaged in 2018, though he has consistently denied making such remarks. The issue resurfaced during Trump’s rally in Las Vegas on Sunday. “He said I stood over graves of soldiers and I said: ‘These people are suckers and losers, the dead soldiers from World War I,’” Trump recounted, attributing the narrative to Biden and dismissing it as “made up”, via  The Atlantic.

The attack ad in question was released by the Biden campaign to coincide with the president’s visit to Normandy for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. It included the controversial “suckers” and “losers” quotes alongside audio of Trump critiquing the late Senator John McCain for being captured during the Vietnam War, stating, “I like people that weren’t captured.”

Trump expressed his outrage at the rally, questioning the rationale behind such statements. “Unless you’re a psycho or a crazy person or a very stupid person, who would say that, anyway?” he posed to his audience. He criticized his advisors who recommended he ignore the allegations, asserting that ignoring them does not make them disappear: “It just never goes away, I gotta mention it,” he explained.

Further venting his frustration, Trump took to Truth Social, where he continued to refute the allegations. He described the “losers and suckers” claim as “another Democrat Disinformation ‘hit job’” and called the decision to turn these words into an ad a sign of desperation. “No President, especially ‘dumb as a rock’ Joe Biden, has done more for our Military than DONALD J. TRUMP. The Military hates Crooked Joe, and all of the failure he represents,” he claimed in his post.

Trump also used this platform to defend his record and denounce his detractors: “Anytime you see that despicable FAKE statement used, remember that it comes from the FASCIST SCUM that is destroying our Country,” he wrote, vehemently denying the accusations once more.

This dispute highlights the ongoing and intense political rivalry between Trump and Biden, underscored by contentious narratives and deep divisions in American political discourse.
