Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end, has taken on a new venture by investing in the ownership of a racehorse. The 3-year-old gelding, aptly named Swift Delivery, has brought an unexpected Taylor Swift reference into the mix, although the name is purely coincidental, according to Team Valor International founder Barry Irwin.

The connection between the horse’s name and Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift wasn’t lost on the public or his brother, Jason Kelce. The former Philadelphia Eagles center couldn’t resist making a playful jab, tweeting, “But does it have an enlarged heart…. Can this horse do it with a broken heart!” following the announcement.

Irwin, who first met Kelce at the Kentucky Derby, spoke about how the opportunity came to fruition. “It’s very exciting,” he told The Associated Press. “When this horse came to light and it was owned by one of my partners already, with the name, I figured this has got to be a no-brainer.”

Kelce’s exact ownership stake in Swift Delivery remains undisclosed, but it’s known that he’s been involved for about a month. This new investment adds to a series of significant moves Kelce has made as the NFL season approaches. He recently secured a lucrative deal with Amazon’s Wondery, valued at over $100 million, for the distribution of his podcast with his brother. Additionally, Kelce is set to appear in the sequel to “Happy Gilmore,” the FX horror series “Grotesquerie,” and he even hosted the game show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”

Swift Delivery, the horse in question, has been on a winning streak recently, claiming victory in his last two races. This success is a turnaround from a challenging period where he failed to place better than third in six consecutive starts. Trainer Mark Casse expressed optimism about the horse’s future, stating, “He’s a horse that we always thought a lot of, and he just didn’t perform — and now he’s performing. This horse is good. He’s good right now, and he has the potential to go on and do big things.”

The horse is set to race again on Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, while Kelce and the Chiefs prepare to open their season against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5th. With both Kelce and Swift Delivery heading into exciting new chapters, all eyes are on what comes next for the tight end and his newly acquired racehorse.
