Gymnast Olivia Dunne is returning to Louisiana State University (LSU) for a fifth year of competition. Dunne, 21, made her announcement on social media, posting a video and a heartfelt letter to LSU fans with the caption, “not Dunne yet.” The video showcased highlights from her previous four years at LSU and included a letter that read:

“Dear LSU,

“These past four years have changed my life.

“There’s something about putting on a purple and gold leotard. There’s something about competing in front of 13,000 screaming Tiger fans. There’s something about being pushed by your coaches to do your very best. And there’s something about being part of a team that made school history.

“No matter how many opportunities come my way off the mat, there’s just something about LSU. And that’s why I’m here to say, I’m not Dunne yet.

Here’s to Year Five, baby.”

Dunne has been a standout performer in the uneven bars and floor routines, contributing significantly to LSU women’s gymnastics team’s first national championship in school history this past April. The Tigers emerged victorious at the NCAA championships, finishing ahead of Cal, while Utah and Florida placed third and fourth, respectively. Additionally, Dunne has consistently excelled academically, being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll each of her four years at LSU.

Aside from her athletic and academic achievements, Dunne’s return to LSU carries substantial personal and financial incentives. She is one of the most marketable athletes in college sports, boasting massive followings on TikTok and Instagram that exceed those of any other NCAA competitor. This popularity has translated into significant earnings through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals. Dunne is among the highest NIL earners among NCAA athletes, reportedly receiving millions of dollars annually. She holds the distinction of being the top NIL income earner among female college athletes.

In addition to her athletic and NIL successes, Dunne will be featured in an upcoming Prime Video docuseries on NIL titled “The Money Game.” The series will also spotlight other prominent LSU athletes, including Angel Reese, Jayden Daniels, and Flau’Jae Johnson.

With her decision to return for a fifth year, Dunne continues to make history at LSU while inspiring her fans and teammates. Her dedication to the sport and the university remains unwavering, as she sets her sights on another national title and furthering her impact both on and off the mat. As she embarks on this new chapter, LSU fans can look forward to more stellar performances and memorable moments from Olivia Dunne.
