Donald Trump’s hair has been a topic of fascination for years, and his recent rally in Georgia on August 3 provided more fodder for discussion. As the 2024 presidential candidate spoke passionately to the crowd, his signature wispy combover, now more prone to flopping in the wind, became a spectacle.

At a previous rally in Michigan, Trump himself joked about his unusual hairstyle while looking at his reflection on the big screen, told Fox News. “That’s very severe, that combover that’s a severe sucker,” he told the crowd. “It looks OK from the other side, but that is very severe. I apologize. Man, I looked up there, I said, ‘Whoa, look at that.’ Wow. That’s like a work of art,” Trump continued.

Trump’s hair has been scrutinized for years. In 2018, The Guardian captured a moment when his hair was blown by the wind as he boarded Air Force One, revealing his scalp. A YouTuber quipped, “I admire a man that can cover 90 percent of his head with 30 percent of his hair.” Another commented, “I’ve seen balding but never in my life have I seen balding just in the back of someone’s head WTF!”

The cause of Trump’s distinctive hairstyle has long been speculated upon. According to Dr. Alan Bauman, a hair restoration expert who spoke to The Guardian, Trump might have undergone hair transplantation. “In my professional opinion, I do believe he has had some previous hair transplantation to the frontal part of his hairline,” Bauman said. Despite rumors of toupees or weaves, Bauman believes Trump’s hair is his own but noted, “He does, however, use quite a bit of hairspray to maintain his preferred style.”

Trump once promised that if he became president, he’d change his famous combover. “I would probably comb my hair back. Why? Because this thing is too hard to comb. I wouldn’t have time, because if I were in the White House, I’d be working my a** off,” he told guests at a political dinner in 2015, according to the Des Moines Register.

For those curious about what Trump might look like with a different hairstyle, a user on X (formerly known as Twitter) shared a photo of Trump with slicked-back hair. “Thinking about that time in 2019 when Trump abandoned his spray tan and combover and looked completely normal for exactly one day,” the user wrote. That brief moment gave the public a rare glimpse of the upper half of Trump’s forehead.

As Trump continues his campaign, his hair remains as much a part of his public persona as his political rhetoric, drawing both curiosity and commentary from observers.
