The political landscape in North Dakota was further complicated by the decision of three-term Rep. Kelly Armstrong to not seek re-election to Congress, opting instead to run for governor. This move set the stage for a heated gubernatorial primary, with Armstrong endorsed by Trump and Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller backed by Burgum, told The Hill.
Alongside the congressional and gubernatorial primaries, North Dakota voters also faced a decision on a significant ballot initiative. This initiative proposed banning any candidate who would turn 81 years old during their term from running for U.S. House or Senate.
